MCE OF LEKMA POISED TO ADDRESS CHALLENGES IN EDUCATION
Hon. Seth Badu Tawiah-LEKMA MCE, on Wednesday April 13 and Thursday April 15, 2016 cut sod for the commencement of the construction of three schools within the municipality. According to him, the projects were in line with government’s commitment to address the challenges in the education sector. On day-one, he cut the sod for a two- storey 12- unit classroom block each for the Seventh Day Adventist Basic School and the St. Augustine’s Anglican School all in Nungua. The cost of the two buildings is estimated at GH₵ 3,459,000.
Financed by the World Bank, the SDA structure costs GH₵1,745,000 while that of the Anglican school which is financed by the Common Fund of the Assembly is at a cost of GH₵1,714,000.
On day two, the MCE cut another sod for the construction of a two storey 6-unit classroom block for the Teshie Technical Training Centre (TTTC) at a cost of over GH₵540,000. He cautioned the contractor to complete the work within 7 months otherwise his contract would be terminated. The Principal for the TTTC, Mr. Amos Aryee was grateful for the timely gesture by the Assembly to solve the centre’s years long challenge.
The NDC Parliamentary Candidate for Krowor, Dr. Eleazar Borketey-La, the Municipal Coordinating Director-Mr. Kodjoe Dekpo, the Presiding Member-Hon. Patrick Noagbedzi, the Municipal Director of Education-Mr. Yaw Fosu Danquah, Hon. Assembly members, representatives from Nungua Traditional Council, Heads of departments of LEKMA, staff and students from the beneficiary schools and pressmen from the various media houses were present to witness the ceremonies.
