LeKMA DEMOLISHES UNAUTHOURISED STRUCTURES AT MANET JUNCTION

A demolition exercise was carried out this morning by the Ledzokuku Municipal Assembly to remove structures at Manet Junction on the Spintex Road in Accra, to pave way for the construction of an overpass to connect the Teshie Link Road to East Legon and it’s environs.
Barely two weeks ago, the Greater Accra Regional Minister, Hon. Henry Quarety, led a team to demolish wooden and metal structures that occupied the area to prepare it for the road construction. But these squatters are back to encroach.
Today’s exercise was sanctioned by the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Mordecai Quarshie who was accompanied by officers of the Works department at LeKMA and some police officers from the Okpoi Gonno District

REPORT ON THE CELEBRATION OF WORLD MENSTRUAL HYGIENE DAY AT OREILLY SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL.

The Community Development Unit of the Ledzokuku Municipal Assembly in collaboration with the Ledzokuku Municipal Directorate of the Ghana Education Service (GES) organized a seminar on Personal and Menstrual Hygiene in Commemoration of the World Menstrual Hygiene Day, 2022 on the theme “making menstruation a normal fact of life by 2030” with support from Sunda Ghana Limited distributors of Softcare sanitary pads.

The Ledzokuku Municipal Education Director Mr. Victor N. Tawiah gave the key note address, where he encouraged to students to maintain the highest form of personal hygiene both during their periods and off periods. He encouraged students not to stay away from school during their periods as draws back their academic’s efforts but resort to the use of sanitary pads and modern materials aimed at keeping them clean to enable them attend classes.

As part of the celebration students were taken through basic personal hygiene principals and safe and effective ways of using and disposing off sanitary pads by Mrs. Sheila Arthur, a senior staff of the LeKMA Hospital Antenatal Unit.

On behalf of Sunda Ghana Limited the Unit Head of the Department of Community Development Madam Genevieve Ofosu-Amaah made a donation of boxes of sanitary pads to students of both Oreilly Senior High School and Teshie Presby Senior High School.

The Assistant headmistress of Oreilly Senior High School, Madam Rabiatu Asimiru was full of praise for the organizers for hosting the World Menstrual Hygiene Day celebrations in her school and thanked Sunda Ghana Limited for donating sanitary pads to students of both Oreilly and Teshie Presby Senior High Schools. She encouraged other organizations to emulate the kind gesture exhibited by Sunda Ghana Limited by supporting Oreilly Senior High School and other schools within the municipality.

The programme was held at the Oreilly Senior High School, Okpoi Gonno Teshie. In attendance were students and staff of Oreilly Senior high school and Teshie Presby Senior High School. Other dignitaries that graced the occasion included Staff of Community Development Unit, Municipal School Health Education Programme (SHEP) Officer Madam Patience Adams-Brown, Municipal Special Education Officer Ms. Elizabeth Akrong, and Municipal Early Childhood Education Officer Mrs. Priscilla Apronti.

The celebration was interspersed with poetry recitations by Yasmine Donkor a student of Oreilly Senior High School.

LeKMA 1st Ordinary General Assembly Meeting

Earlier today, a general assembly was held at the Assembly Hall of the Ledzokuku Municipal Assembly office. It was the first meeting for this year 2022. Those who were in attendance included the Member of Parliament for the Ledzokuku Constituency, Honourable Benjamin Ayiku, the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Mordecai Quarshie, the Municipal Coordinating Director of LeKMA, the Presiding Member of the Assembly, Assemblymen within the Municipality and heads of departments at LeKMA.
Discussions touched on maintenance of streetlights, tackling the menace of stray animals, prostitution and drug abuse especially under aged children , and others. Solutions were suggested and they were noted to be implemented to ensure the development of the Municipality

LEDZOKUKU MUNICIPAL PLANNING COMMITTEE (LEKMPC) HOLDS A SPATIAL PLANNING COMMITTEE MEETING

Ledzokuku Municipal Planning Committee (LeKMPC) holds a Spatial Planning Committee meeting on 19th May 2022. The meeting which took place at the conference hall/assembly hall saw the attendance of the M.C.E, Honorable Mordecai Quarshie, the Municipal Chief Director, Engr. John Tsikor, Secretary of the Spatial Planning, key members of the committee and some members of the heads of departments and units of the assembly.

LeKMA HOLDS CORE MANAGEMENT MEETING

A Core Management meeting of the Ledzokuku Municipal Assembly was held on Monday. The meeting which took place at the Assembly’s conference room saw the attendance of the M.C.E, Honourable Mordecai Quarshie, the Municipal Coordinating Director, Ing. John Tsikor and some key heads of Departments and Units at the Assembly.
The matters discussed at the meeting included environmental health issues and progress made by the MIS unit on the property rate bills.
